1/18/2024 0 Comments Crank brothers multi tool highway![]() I have also used a lot of other Crankbrothers tools and all have been amazing. So, even if you are not mechanical, chances are there will be someone around that can help you if you have the proper tool for them to work with. Luckily Octoberfest was going on so it worked out. I was going to ride the Downhill Course at Breckenridge Ski Area in Colorado and when I arrived a bolt on my bike had loosened and fell out somewhere on the highway and I could not find one in town anywhere so I just had to load up my bike and cancel the ride. One ToolĮven if you are a beginner or intermediate and are not mechanical, I think it is really important to carry a tool with you as there are a lot of things that tend to just loosen up on a Mountain Bike from all of the vibration that they face from the trail and definitely from hauling them around on a bike rack on your car or truck. Also, this one comes with a case that keeps it working and looking great. Because of this, it is a little heavier than some but the trade off is well worth it to have a tool that you know will do the job. The quality of this one is unlike any I have ever seen. I have had a lot of different multi function tools over the years and a lot of them are built very cheaply and tend to not work real well, especially once they have been riding around in your bag for a long time. Additionally, it includes three screwdrivers including a #1 phillips which is not real common but this is handy for derallieur adjustments and maybe your sunglasses should a screw rattle out. It does include a number 8 as well for your Crank Bolt (maybe that is why they are the Crank Brothers, Haha) I recently had a crank fall off so I was very glad I had this. One thing that is a little challenging with some of these is managing the tool in tight spots, but overall they still work really well. Having these integrated really cuts down on the overall size and keeps this tool very compact and light.Īll of the Allen wrenches are located at the end and are decent length to reach hard spots on your bike. If you have ever needed either of these and did not have it, you know what I am talking about in terms of being a life saver on the ride. The chain tool is great as it is integrated with the 0, 1, 2 and 3 spoke wrenches which you can see pretty clearly in the image above. ![]() This includes virtually every tool you might need and can save you a walk back to your car or house. ![]() This thing is bullett proof and is compact to carry with you in a saddlebag or in your pack while still keeping the weight down.Īmazon has a great price on these and you can get one here Crankbrothers Multi Tool What it Includes i was thinking of getting crank bros multi 10 (has all the hex keys, the torx and 2 screwdrivers) with a park CT-5 Chain tool and seperate spoke wrenches. When it comes to Mountain Biking I have a lof of favorite things, but I would say one of the things I love the most is my Crank Brothers 19 Function Multi Tool as it is like the swiss army knife of all bike tools and it does virtually everything you need to do on the trail or on the side of the trail on your mountain bike. what would the other sizes do? (the ones that aren't on the other models) Cant you just get adjusting bits to put on the end? OK, so some have different size hex wrenches. Second size equal to SW-2, red, for 3.45mm nipples One size equal to SW-0, black, for 3.23mm nipples Park IB-3 (spoke wrenches look fiddly, chain tool looks weak) Tire lever: super hard anodized aluminum.Chain tool: cast cromoly steel (unclips from mini-tool body for ease of use).I want to know strengths and weaknesses of each of them from people who have used them, or general opinions on what is and isnt needed.Ĭrank Brothers Multi 19 (Multi 17 only has 1 of each screwdriver < why u need 2?) i want a wide range of opinions to choose a good tool. If there is one that you reccomend, that you think is good, say it and i will look it up. Now firstly, i will give the details below, for a side by side comparison, and i want input from people who know what you need on a tool and may have used these tools before. I have found 3 candidates with good reviews.
